Our 2020 season will offer one training program for all athletes that are looking to engage in track and field training.
We provide guidance and encourage all our athletes to own their training and bringing a level of seriousness, focus, and competitive nature to their workouts and competitions. We support all our athletes and help them set reasonable goals not only for the current season but for the long-term. We believe in a team mindset and strive to build a team environment in our workouts and during competitions.
We accept all levels of experience and do not limit who we accept or require try-outs. If you have a desire to learn, work hard and become a better athlete, you are welcome. We believe that no matter where you begin you will always have the encouragement and support of the coaches and your fellow teammates to learn and reach your goals.
We have have two training seasons: summer and winter. Our summer season is from May to July and our winter season is from November to February. Team registration is separate for each season and information will be posted accordingly.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, and because we value the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, and their families, we will be offering training online until it is safe for athletes and coaches to come together in person. We will post all workouts and have scheduled team check-ins with your head and event coaches to answer any questions and provide feedback on training. Once we are able to gather on the track, practices will be held at Arapahoe High School (dates and times TBD).
ATHLETE PARTICIPATION EXPECTATIONS (Apply accordingly for 2020 seasons)
It is important and encouraged that athletes participate in all 4 days of practices in order to get the most out of their training, however we do understand that other activities and conflicts arise. We ask that a minimum of 2 practices be made per week. If you are unable to make practice we ask that you communicate with the coaching staff.
We expect athletes to be prepared to train during practice. This means that all athletes come to practice with the proper gear: training shoes, spikes, layers of clothing, water, and anything that might be necessary.
Participation in meets, while not mandatory, is highly encouraged. Participation in meets allows for athletes to continue to gain greater experience, compete as a team, and have opportunities to test their overall progress. Meet fees for all local competitions are included in registration fees. All entry fees and travel expenses for Regional or National level competitions are a separate cost. Refund or discounts will not be offered for any athlete who chooses to not compete in meets. (OTC is a 501(c)(3) and will use additional funds from registration fees and donations toward meet entries and travel expenses to help reduce overall team costs, when applicable.)
All athletes are required to wear the Olympia Track Club uniform and warm-ups during all competitions while the team is in season. No high school uniforms will be allowed. Athletes who fail to do so may be removed from future competitions and in extreme cases may be asked to leave the team.
